Swagbucks, It is that EASY!

Ok, so remember when I posted that I finally gave into SWAGBUCKS and that I had my eye on a prize!  I wanted to earn enough SBs to get a $20 Target Gift Card by Christmas this year!

Well……..I just reached 220 SBs – enough for that prize!

image

But, I just realized it is an e-Gift Card.  So, I went back to their prize section.  And, there is a $10 pre-paid Mastercard.  I can get it for 135 SBs!  So, I think that I am going to sit tight on that until I accumulate 50 more SBs – so that I can get 2 of those pre-paid Mastercards!

Hop onto SWAGBUCKS to see what they are about.  Then, if you are interested, sign up and start earning FREE stuff for yourself!

May your day be ‘just frugalicious’!

Playing Catch Up!

Well, this time of the year is a bit crazy!  I haven’t yet been through this crazy time of year with my photography business AND been couponing the way I have been!  So, it might prove to be interesting.

We have finished two of the 6 schools we are photographing for FALL pictures.  Four to go.  OOPS – make that 5 – one just booked us for Christmas pictures yesterday!

DH and I just returned from San Francisco last night late.  We spent Saturday thru Monday there – and we had a fabulous time – and I caught a bunch of cute pictures of two precious little boys while we were there!  I was there for work and pleasure!

It is absolutely going to be a challenge to juggle everything.  But, I am sure going to give it my best.

Currently I need to shop Walgreens and CVS for sure (I have both RRs and ECBs that are expiring VERY soon).  And, I have heard of some AWESOME deals at Randall’s…..I hope I haven’t missed them!

Hang in there – I will post as much as I can in the next 2 months….but, it might be a bit light compared to what I have been doing!

May your day be ‘just frugalicious’!

Living off the Stockpile…..

As some of you might know, I have been working the past two weeks and have four more weeks to go – photographing 6 different pre-school’s fall portraits……

So, I haven’t been able to do as much deal hunting as usual.

I sorta chuckled last night as I fixed a quick dinner.  Here is what we had (DH was traveling so it was just me & the kids!):

French Bread Pizzas

3 – Artisan Breads from TARGET (FREE)

1 – Bertolli Pasta Sauce RANDALLS (MM)

1 – Kraft Shredded Cheese KROGER (Super Cheap)

1 – Dr. Pepper Cherry RANDALLS ($.33)

I cut open the individual bread loaves and spread the sauce on them, then I sprinkled cheese over the top.  That is it!

I also made breadsticks by cutting strips of one of the loaves spraying on some I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT BUTTER and sprinkling on some garlic powder…..

It was a quick, yummy dinner – enjoyed by all!

FREE GREEN GIANT VALLEY FRESH STEAMERS!

Some good things to know:

1.  It is great to have a LOCAL network of couponers.

2.  Competition is a good thing!

3.  Rainchecks are fabulous!

IMG_2107

Our good friend Karla found these on sale at our local Kroger for 10 / $10.  These are unadvertised.  It is great to have a network of couponers to help share great finds!  Thanks so much, Karla!

We have coupons from 9/13 SS for $.50/1.  Which, when doubled, makes these FREE!

I was out today doing a couple of errands.  So, I thought I would swing by a Kroger close to where I was – to snag the deal without having to drive up to the Kroger where Karla found these.  None were to be found.  Then, I stopped at another….again, none.

I made it to Karla’s Kroger – and they only had this one left!  So, I got my Rainchecks!  Each raincheck is for QTY of 3.  The coupons don’t expire until 11/7 – so I will be able to use my coupons before then – paired with my rainchecks!!  The reason the rainchecks are in QTYs of 3 is so all  3 coupons double.  (Kroger doubles up to 3 like coupons in ONE transaction.)  Rainchecks are fabulous!

So, the only thing that I can figure is that THIS Kroger (FRY Rd & West Little York in Katy, TX) is competing with the WALMART across the street.

So, competition is a great thing!!

What I am gonna do….

Well, this has been a bit of a slow week for me!  We just don’t ‘NEED’ much of anything in the terms of groceries & household supplies.  So, unless it has been FREE, we haven’t been pursuing…..

But, tomorrow I am going to organize a Randall’s (Safeway) Trip!  I have heard there are great deals using loadables, paper coupons, and IPs.  So, I have to get my stuff together.

That is going to happen after I get a GREAT night’s sleep tonight.  I will sleep like a baby – since today & yesterday I photographed 107 kids (ages 4 and under) in a total of 8 hours!!  I have never done that before, and quite frankly, I am proud I survived!!  So, tonight, I will sleep like a baby!!

WFMW – Get more from your juice purchases!

Ok, ya’ll!  As you might know, we have three growing kids.  So, that means that we go through a lot of food in our house.  And with the food comes drinks.  Our middle child would drink Apple Juice until she turned into an apple if we let her!

What Works For Me is this:  I water down most drinks – FIRST – to make them stretch a little further – SECOND – I know that most juices are packed with sugar!

As the girls watched me fill their cups 1/2 with water 1/2 with juice, they began to complain when they saw water being added to their cups!

I then realized I had to come up with PLAN B!  I now water the juice down as soon as I open it (while I am alone in the kitchen!).  I have 2 bottles most of the time – when one empties, I pour 1/2 of the new juice into the empty container – then fill the remaining amount with water!

The girls cannot even tell a difference!  Our juice lasts twice as long – and the topper is that I don’t have to listen to someone fussing at me for watering down their drink!

Motts came out with LIGHT juice about a year or so ago.  Here is an article about it…..with a reminder to be cautious on sneaky labeling for ‘HEALTHY’ foods!

a GREAT blog, a GREAT giveaway!

A while back I found a blog…….gosh, it has been at least 4 months or more now……  Well, I have to say that it inspires me daily.  It is called We Are That Family.  It is at the top of my list on my homepage RSS Feed sites, and it is usually the first thing I read in the morning.  Since I don’t drink coffee…..or read the daily paper, I think this blog is a great substitute!!  The author is AMAZING in how she shares her life to help others reflect on theirs’!

I saw a tweet on Twitter about a LUVs giveaway and I hopped on over.

You gotta go fast, because tomorrow is the last day to enter to win!  The cool thing is – is that if you can’t use these, but know someone who can – you can enter for them!  How cool would it be to give a friend 6 months of free diapers!

So….check on this post……and leave a comment to enter the giveaway

Best of luck!

Review for Munchkin Catapillar Spillers.

I was asked to do a product review from a friend of mine, Erin at jane4girls.  She had received a marketing package of products to review, and she didn’t have a little one to try these toys out!  So, she asked me to have Evan (13 months) try them out and write a review!

We picked them up from her house last Thursday (before we visited Chick Fil A for their complimentary sandwiches).  I really wanted to keep them all packaged up until we returned home – hoping not to have to gather them, three kids, Chick Fil A Sandwiches, backpacks, any anything else that might have been in the truck when we unloaded at home.   But, that didn’t happen!  With three inquisitive kids in the back seat of the Avalanche…..the package didn’t stay contained for too long!  And, I of course ended up hunting throughout the entire back seat to try to find all the cups!!

At bath time, I had finally found all the cups and re-introduced them to Evan!  HE LOVED THEM!  He would scoop up the water and spill it out……  He loved when the water ran out of the bottom of the cup!

The cups are suppose to hook together to make a catapillar, but we didn’t have much success with that function of the product.  The cups wouldn’t stay attached – and with one touch of a finger, they disconnected.

 IMG_2062 IMG_2063 IMG_2064

Addison, our nearly 4 year old, loved the cups as much as Evan did!  She played with him as I gave his bath – and at the end all three of us were equally wet, I believe!

 IMG_2065

Evan was entertained by the cups and big sister!

 IMG_2066

What suprised me was how fast the toys dried!  I pulled them out of the bathwater and tossed them into the sink to drain.  By the time I had Evan to his bed to finish drying and dressing him, the toys were nearly water-free.  I tossed them in his bed with him – in an attempt to keep him occupied while Big Sister had a bath!

 IMG_2067

Of course when I walked back into his room, all the cups had been tossed out of his crib (except this one) – which he quickly tossed upon my arrival.  What a game of pick-up!!

    IMG_2071

Trying out products is a lot of fun for all the family!

Be sure to stop by the MUNCHKIN website for other fun goodies to check out!

Special Delivery from Pssst….. at General Mills!

I received my first Special Delivery from General Mills today!

IMG_2104

I joined Pssst…. a while back, and my first delivery just arrived.  It is funny that the product is the Nature Valley Nut Clusters, because I just purchased some during the last Kroger Mega Sale!  I have the Roasted Cashew flavor, this one is the Nut Lovers flavor!  Yummy!

The Nature Valley Nut Clusters are “100% natural, wholesome, and delicious snack perfect for any time of the day.”

The kit came with a full size sample and 10 - $1.60/1 coupons.  The directions within the kit are this:  I have been asked to pass out the coupons to my friends/family – so that they can try the snack, too!  I will also soon receive an electronic coupon to send to those who might not live nearby.  Then, I will complete an email survey from Pssst…. to give them feedback on the product.

This is a fun project, don’t you say!!  You can join Pssst….., too!  Just follow the link and sign up!

Recycle: Endless Possibilities!

Ok, I must admit, I am hooked!  You have probably seen my Capri Sun Bags.  Today, my sister told me that I can make things from grocery bags!

Etsy.com has a great HOW TO video with full instructions!

Here are some pictures from their how to post:

I think this might be my next project!

The bibs are so cool!  Don’t you think!!

Recycle: Make a Capri Sun Tote Bag

IMG_2055I just finished a Capri Sun Tote Bag.  A good friend of mine is a teacher.  She saw the opportunity to collect capri sun pouches after lunch time.  In two days she collected 40 pouches.  Then another friend of mine had her friend send a bunch to me…..So, I was able to start some more cool projects!!

This bag took 24 capri pouches.  What a cool bag, huh!  Emiley, I hope you like your new tote bag!

Also, be sure to check out the Capri Sun Lunch Bags that I made the other day!  The bags keep lunches cool throughout the entire day!

These also make great beach bags for the summer.  You can just take a water hose to the bag when you get back home!

Do It Yourself Day – Child Profile Artwork

DIY Day @ ASPTL

I posted this a while back, but thought it would be a good one to revisit for those of you who might not have seen it!  I have the art hung at the top of the stairs, and I smile each time I see it.  It captures the kiddos so perfectly and locks them into their tinyness!  I will treasure it forever!

I saw a post on a blog I happened upon the other day – it showed how to use watercolors and contact paper to create a silhouette of your kiddos.  Well, I didn’t have watercolors OR contact paper.  But, we needed a project this afternoon – so we used what we had:

Long skinny black frame from IKEA. (three openings for three kids!)

Digital Camera to snap sideshots of each kiddo.

Black scrapbooking paper to cut out the silhouettes.

White paper to back the cutouts!

Here is what we came up with…..

kids_silo

While I did this, the girls each had a copy of their sideshot that they used to do artwork:

Randall’s to END their PowerPump Reward Program

PowerPump Rewards

On September 12th, your PowerPump Rewards will expire and the program will end.  So, be sure to use your Rewards before they are gone!  I don’t want you to go fill up with gas on the 13th and get no savings!!

The Randall’s Website has no mention of the Program ending (at least that I could find) but your receipt states it – as well there are signs at the pump about the program ending.

Sad. Sad.  I guess we can always hope they are just coming out with a new / better program for Fuel Rewards!!

Thanks, Elena for the reminder to post this!

Works For Me Wednesday

Ok!  This is the first time I have participated in WFMW!  I am excited!

Everyone knows that I am a crazy couponer.  I began couponing ‘extremely’ in January 2009.  Since then, I have cut our family’s monthly grocery budget by at least 60%.  If I were better with math and more organized with my receipts I could tell you exactly….but, alas, I am not!

What I am organized with are my coupons.  Because, my friends, when you are organized with your coupons – you save MORE!!!

Here is What Works For ME:

1.  All of my coupon inserts are collated (I get between 5 – 10 copies of the coupons each week).  Once they are collated, I take my handy stapler and staple through each stack.  So, for instance, if I got 5 papers, the same sheet from each of the five papers would be in one stack – then I staple through each coupon stack on that sheet – so I have all like coupons together – and ready to clip if needed.
IMG_2044

2.  I take a sharpie and write the date on the top of each insert’s stack.  (i.e. 9/13 SmartSource, 9/13 Red Plum, 9/13 P&G)IMG_2043

3.  I have a hanging file drawer in my desk.  Each week has its own compartment.  They are arranged in date order (newest to oldest).

IMG_2041

4.  When I find a great deal, I use HCW’s Coupon Database to find where the coupons are located.  Then, I go to that week’s inserts and pull the coupon.  One quick snip, snip and I have a stack of coupons for a great deal!

5.  For any coupons that have been clipped but not used, I insert them into my binder (that is tabbed with categories).
IMG_2048

6.  For coupons that have been clipped and I know what store I want to use them at, I use my handy accordion coupon organizer that is sectioned off per store – the drop them into that store’s section.
IMG_2052IMG_2053

7.  My accordion coupon organizer is also where I keep my gift cards, RRs, Catalinas (for $$s OYNO), and ECBs.

Disclaimer:  I am not here to say that I am always caught up on my coupons.  I have two little rubbermaid tubs that I use to organize those coupons that I have to sort/file/etc.  So, this system is great, but it’s the user that has to stay on top of it – so as to not be overtaken by coupons!!!

There you have it!  My first WFMW entry!  YIPPEE!!!

Quick Run before Kroger Sale Ends

Chad made a quick run to CVS tonight.  He had an RX to fill and a $25 Gift Card Coupon from Kroger (you know CVS will match those, right?)  He picked up his RX ($10) and got a CVS giftcard for $25.  He also had to make a “NEEDED” run to get some medicine for our little one.  He was up all night last night with what we believe to be bothersome allergies.  So, he picked some medicine up – in hopes it will help!

Then, he stopped at Kroger – I had found more coupons for their sale – and we wanted to snag the bargains before the sale ended.

Total OOP:  $1.71

Cellfire has reloaded!

Cellfire has reloaded their coupons.  This is a great site, if you haven’t visited it before.  The way it works:

1.  Set up an account.

2.  Enter your frequent shopper card numbers so they are linked to your account.

3.  Load coupons onto your shopper cards.

4.  You can print your shopping list – so that you know what is on your card when you are at the store!

5.  For now, the stores are allowing you to stack paper ‘clipped’ coupons with the coupons loaded onto your card.  So, it means extra savings for you!

So, head on over to cellfire to check it out.  Get signed up and start saving!  Cellfire reloads every two weeks, so you don’t want to miss out on the current deals!

A TIP:

Watch for sales and promotions on all the products listed on Cellfire.  Here are just a few highlights:

For instance the Green Giant Frozen Veggies often go on sale for $1 each.  The loadable coupon is for $.50/2.  If there is a matching ‘clipped’ coupon it can be used at the same time for a bigger savings.  Other good loadables that I see this time are:  Betty Crocker Warm Delights (they are super yummy and just the right size for a dessert!) and the YoPlus.  I can tell you that I haven’t purchased either of these to items WITHOUT getting them FREE since I began shopping in a FRUGALICIOUS way!

There is a limit of 50 loadable coupons per card – once you have reached that quantity, you won’t be able to load more until the ones you have on your card are either used or expire.

Enjoy the savings!

Our Chick Fil A Adventure (a.k.a. fiasco)

As you probably know, Chick Fil A was doing a Labor Day Promotion – dress up in your favorite sports team logo clothing and get a FREE Chick Fil A Sandwich.

DH and I were going to try to make it a fun afternoon – after we had a pretty crappy morning by paying for two new tires on the car – then, finding a nail in one that we weren’t planning on replacing!

So, after the kids woke up from naps, we began to get ready.

Thanks to Brandy we have a CUTE St. Louis Cardinals outfit for our 1 year old.  He put that on with a white polo and was happy as a little lark!  Ready to go eat his chicken sandwich!

Our middle child (almost 4) happily put on her Dale Earnhardt Jr tshirt that was given to her from a neighbor.  (Thanks, John)  But, she assured us she didn’t want a sandwich, she wanted chicken nuggets.  We told her that she would eat the sandwich and be happy!

Our oldest, (6 years) couldn’t find her PINK astros hat, and really didn’t want to participate at all!  She said that she didn’t want to get dressed in team clothing and told me I was just going to have to buy her a sandwich.  I ended up pulling one of DHs Nascar shirts from his closet.

After nearly wrestling her to the floor, and almost peeing my pants from laughing so hard about the situation, we got the shirt on her, tied it in a cute little knot and it actually looks super cute on her!  However, she would never admit it! (to note:  she kept the tshirt to use as a nightshirt – I don’t think DH is gonna get that one back!)

So, we headed to Chick Fil A and got our 5 sandwiches, fries, and drinks ($6 and some change OOP).  We enjoyed our dinner out with the family at a super bargain price!

In the car, DD (6 years) said – the sandwich was good, but next time, I will get chicken nuggets!  As she pulled off her shirt to get out of the team garb!

Honey Nut Cheerios Sweet Rewards Giveaway

My friend, Emily told me about this Giveaway (thanks, Emily!):

General Mills has a little GIVEAWAY GAME on their site right now.  For all you gamblers out there, you can spin the wheel to win!  You can do it up to 10 times per day.  It does require you to login each time you spin the wheel.

When prompted to enter a code to play – and you don’t have a code from a cereal box, just click “DON’T HAVE A CODE” and it will tell you one to input.

Hope luck is on your side!

Kroger - Gas & Groceries Instant Win Game

Just to throw a question out to you all…..”Is anyone playing the KROGER Gas & Groceries game?”  It has a wheel that you spin to try to land on prizes.  I have been so diligent with this – doing it each day.  And, NO LUCK!  Just wondering if anyone else is playing it AND if you are – have you won anything??  It ends on September 11th.  I hope someone I know wins something before the game comes to an end!

I think I am gonna let my kiddos spin the wheel for the next several days – to see if they might have any luck!!  Because, obviously I don’t!!

Just wanted to throw that question out there!!

UPDATED: $10 Target GiftCard WYB Pampers!

A friend of mine (THANKS, JANIE) sent me an email today telling me about a TARGET PAMPERS promotion.

VALID:  September 6 – 12 ONLY

Pair this $10 gift card promo with the $2/1 Pampers coupons from the 8/30 P&G AND the $2/1 Target Coupons from the 8/9 inserts and you might just have you a deal! OH!  And, I just realized I got a mailer from Target for $5 off a BABY purchase of $25 or more.

So….if you use 2 of each coupon – that saves you $8 ….and the $5/$25 Target Coupon PLUS the $10 gift card – saves you $23 on two boxes of diapers.

Whoa! I just searched for the Cruisers Premium Absorbency diapers and they are $29.99 per box.  I am here to tell you that you can absolutely get diapers more FRUGALICIOUS than that…..but, if you need diapers – it might be the deal for you.

Here is the math (for the cruisers – 72 count box):

$29.99 * 2 = $59.98

- $13 in coupons = $46.98

- $10 Target Gift Card = $36.98

PPD (price per diaper) = $.256

Capri Sun Lunch Bag

Ok ZM sent me this link yesterday.  I couldn’t help but try it out!  I had been saving our used Capri Sun pouches for Terracycle, so I had some on hand to do this nifty project!

This is my proto-type.  I didn’t like the velcro idea, so I am experimenting with using ribbons to close it shut.  We will see how it goes!

Aubrey and Addison are gonna have new lunchboxes!  Thanks, ZM!

IMG_2030

Here is the second one!  I figured out how to do the bottom seams and I added the ribbon in a different spot!  I like this one!!

One more post about SWAGBUCKS

Ok, I wanted to do one more post about SWAGBUCKS.  I added a ‘search’ widget at the bottom of this column.  You can use it to search online while on my blog, if you need.  But, most importantly, you can use it to sign up to start earning SWAGBUCKS.  Trust me – there are no strings attached.  You search.  You earn.  You redeem your SWAGBUCKS for cool stuff!

My plan is to redeem my SWAGBUCKS for Target Gift Cards.  It only takes 220 SBs to get a $20 Target Gift Card.  You are gonna laugh when you see ONLY 18 SBs in my account.  But, I guess it is a way to see how quickly they will grow.  I will keep you updated.  I want to at least earn ONE Target Gift Card before Christmas shopping time!

Of course, it is a referral program, I get rewarded for those who sign up using my link – once you sign up you spread the word and start earning SBs for your great prizes!
